The Football Players Association of India (FPAI) announced the Top 3 nominees in the categories - Indian Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year, Foreign Player of the Year and Coach of the Year - for the fourth FPAI Indian Football Awards which was held in Goa on 12th May, 2012. About 230 votes had been collected from players across the 14 I-League clubs.
The pick of the players was young striker Manandeep Singh, who had been nominated across three categories - Indian Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year and Fans Player of the Year.
For the first time there was a 'Best Managed Club' award chosen by the 15 Executive Committee Members of the FPAI, which has already been decided. The winning club was announced at the FPAI Indian Football Awards on Saturday night and awarded to DEMPO SC.
At the FPAI Indian Football Awards there was a special memento handed on stage to Mahesh Gawli, Climax Lawrence and Samir Naik all of whom announced their retirement from international duty for Team India that year.
